Your neighbours have a dog that is noisy at night. You can’t sleep. Write a letter to your neighbours.

Your neighbours have a dog that is noisy at night. You can’t sleep. Write a letter to your neighbours. In your letter:
– describe the problem with the dog
– explain why it is important for you to sleep
– outline what your neighbours could do about the situation.

Dear Mr and Mrs Brown ,
I am writing to you to bring to your attention a problem that I have been having with your dog at night.
As you may already be aware of, your dog started making small detours at night around the neighborhood, digging holes in the gardens and often making loud noises. I was awoken by your dog’s barks several times lately, and I had even consulted a doctor and had been prescribed some sleeping pills.
This wouldn’t have been as big of a problem for me if I wasn’t in the middle of my exams, but since I am, it is crucial for me to get good rest and sleep during the right hours; I have morning exams to wake up to.
I would therefore be grateful if you could have your dog looked after by another member of your family away from this neighborhood, even if only until my exams are over, which will be in about three weeks time.
Thank you for taking time to read this letter, I hope you will address this issue soon .

Yours sincerely,
Jeongsup Byun

Argumentative Essay Examples and Tips

Argumentative Essay Examples and Tips

The first paragraph should introduce the topic and give your thesis statement. Your thesis will be the position you’re going to be taking on whatever topic you chose.
  • The Body

The next few paragraphs will make up the bulk of your essay. This particular area can include as little as three paragraphs to as many as necessary to complete your assignment requirements. Within the body, you will detail both sides of the argument. Use one paragraph for each point, including the strongest points of the opposing side.
Because the idea of this essay is to argue for your position, be sure to spend more time on your side than on the opposing side. Introduce the opposing side first, and present the strongest points along with any evidence used to support them. Depending on your topic and assignment length, this could take anywhere from one to three paragraphs.
Once you’ve detailed the opposing side, introduce your position. Again, you should use one paragraph per point, and include all evidence to support your position. You can even include examples of how your evidence refutes the evidence of the opposing side. This particular portion of your essay should be longer than the opposing side.
  • The Conclusion

This final paragraph should restate your position. Emphasize that your position is the best by summarizing the main points of your argument. Include the best evidence. Most conclusions are only a paragraph in length as the conclusion is expected to be a summary of the entire essay.

After You Write

At this point, you may very well be thinking that you’re done with your essay, but you’re not. The most important part of an argumentative essay is the revision and editing. Without it, your essay could have large holes in the logic, or it could have grammatical issues that make it difficult for your readers to read. Consider a course in proofreading to help you revise and edit your essay.
  • Editing and Revising Tools

If you need extra help with editing and revising, there are a couple of free tools available online. Try EditMinion and ProWritingAid to help you. If you’re typing up your draft on a computer, most word processors come with some basic built-in editing tools.
  • Practice Your Editing and Revising

If you’re concerned your skills aren’t up to snuff for your own essay, consider editing a couple of example essays first.

The Final Check

Before you turn in your assignment, you’ll want to look over it one last time. Read through the list below. These are common items that are missed during the first and second reading, and they’re usually not caught by editing and revising tools either.
  • Emotional Language Should Be Avoided

This is an argumentative essay, not a persuasive essay. You are not attempting to draw people to your side with emotions. The idea behind an argumentative essay is to draw people to your position by detailing the important points of both sides and giving the evidence to support your claim. Let the evidence you provide speak for itself.
  • NEVER Make Up Evidence

Your facts should be truthful. If someone were to ever check your evidence, it would only harm your argument if you made something up. Technology makes it easy to find facts on anything, and use that to your advantage when collecting your evidence. Don’t make up evidence supporting your side, and don’t make up evidence that makes the other side look bad.
  • Always Cite Sources

If you’re quoting from a book, cite it. Did you paraphrase something from a magazine article? Cite it. Include a reference page or works cited page. Citing your sources will depend on whether you’re writing in MLA or APA format. Check with your instructor if you’re uncertain which you’re writing in.
  • Use an Outline for Help

Before you write your essay, you should consider writing an outline. This can include the thesis statement you come up with, a short summary of your topic, and the main points you plan to cover for both the opposing side and the side you support. This outline can be very helpful when it comes to writing your conclusion too.
  • Know Your Stuff

Your argument is useless if you don’t actually know what you’re talking about. Know as much as you can about your side, but know just as much if not more about the opposing side too. This will come in handy if your argument ends up challenged by the instructor or a fellow student.

Some people think that museums should be enjoyable places to entertain people

Some people think that museums should be enjoyable places to entertain people, while others believe that the purpose of museums is to educate.
Discuss both views and give you own opinion.
People have different views about the role and function of museums. In my opinion, museums can and should be both entertaining and educational.
On the one hand, it can be argued that the main role of a museum is to entertain. Museums are tourist attractions, and their aim is to exhibit a collection of interesting objects that many people will want to see. The average visitor may become bored if he or she has to read or listen to too much educational content, so museums often put more of an emphasis on enjoyment rather than learning. This type of museum is designed to be visually spectacular, and may have interactive activities or even games as part of its exhibitions.
On the other hand, some people argue that museums should focus on education. The aim of any exhibition should be to teach visitors something that they did not previously know. Usually this means that the history behind the museum’s exhibits needs to be explained, and this can be done in various ways. Some museums employ professional guides to talk to their visitors, while other museums offer headsets so that visitors can listen to detailed commentary about the exhibition. In this way, museums can play an important role in teaching people about history, culture, science and many other aspects of life.
In conclusion, it seems to me that a good museum should be able to offer an interesting, enjoyable and educational experience so that people can have fun and learn something at the same time.

Some people say that it is the responsibility of individuals to save money for their own care after they retire.

TOPIC: Some people say that it is the responsibility of individuals to save money for their own care after they retire. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
ANSWER:
Caring about life after retirement is raising a matter of concern among people. I believe that although individuals need to save some whenever possible, the government should assist its citizens when they get old.
To begin with, it is reasonable to say that people deserve to have some forms of welfare, regardless of pension or other financial assistance. As workers pay taxes while they work, they should receive some certain amount of money when they retire. Therefore, it would be unreasonable to say that only individuals are responsible for their lives after retirement; the government should be in charge of paying pension for the old to guarantee their lives.
Secondly, the role of government is to take care of its citizens, regardless of who they are. Those who have no job should also be given some financial assistance to ensure that they can afford a basic living because without money, they can risk their lives to rob or commit other associated crimes, and this will be a threat to social security. Moreover, leaving the old unattended means nothing less than giving them a death sentence, raising some questions about moral aspects of the authorities.
However, individuals should also be responsible for their lives by saving money whenever it is possible. Because pension cannot be generously given, people have insufficient money to pay for every arisen demand. Therefore, saving may be a solution, especially when it comes to medical care for the old.
In conclusion, although individuals should save some for their life after leaving work, I believe that government should take care of its citizens by giving pension.

It is more important to spend public money on promoting healthy lifestyle

Some people think it is more important to spend public money on promoting a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent illness than to spend it on the treatment for people who are already ill. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.

Model Answer 1:
Health funds are always included in every country's national budget since the early stages of the world. Every year the government has allocated a lot of money for the prevention and cure of the public most common diseases. It is agreed that spending public money to promote a healthy lifestyle for the prevention of illnesses is more importantly than for the treatment of already ill people. This argument will be proven that prevention is better than cure, and already ill people are expected to be at their terminal life.

For one, spending state funds on promoting a healthy lifestyle to prevent illnesses is better because prevention is better than cure. For instance, when I was working as an RHU (Rural Health Unit) nurse in a small community called San Pablo situated in the province of Pangasinan in the Philippines; we disseminated multivitamins and done vaccinations for children in the area because our government had a program called "Eliminate Diseases by Prevention", so we, as health officials and workers implemented it. It is actually a good campaign because no children in that particular community have had serious children diseases. Thus, they became healthier and the public money has been used wisely.

In addition to this, it is no sense using the people's money for those who are already ill because it is expected that they will be at their terminal life. For instance, in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of Urdaneta Sacred Heart Hospital where I am currently assigned to a hospital as a duty nurse, we have a terminally ill colon cancer patient, Mrs Corazon Cojuanco. When she is in her final stage and any further medications or treatments will not work in prolonging her life. So, cancer patients who are at their last stage, such as colon, lung or breast, should not be funded anymore because it is useless. It is really better to allocate the money for the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

In conclusion, spending more public money on a healthier lifestyle is better because prevention is always better than treating an already ill patient as well as it is no sense using it because they are already at their terminal stage of their life. Thus, it has proven that it is more important to spend public money on promoting a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent illness than to spend it on the treatment for people who are already ill. Thus, improving healthy lifestyles is highly recommended.

Model Answer 2:
Nature is the mother, origin and root of everything. Everything is part of nature and the humankind is not an exception for that. Yet, we, mankind, have a distinctive difference with other parts of nature, the capability of thinking or so-called “Rationale”. This ability sometimes leads to cruel actions, for example, neglecting ill or old people. Nowadays, some people engaged in a debate that is involving healthy people and those who are sick and ill. In greater detail, the discussion is on the subject of spending money for normal and healthy people instead of taking care of ill people. In the following, reasons and examples are stated about this debate.

Every person has heard this proverb: ”Preventing is cheaper than cure”. This generates a theory which one of its basis is leaving ill people and focusing on future. Actually, it is a rule of nature that weak should be killed. At first sight, it is true but when you look at it from above it is an absolutely wrong rule. A life cycle of a person consists of birth, childhood, youth, growing old and eventually death. Considering the topic of our essay, being old or ill is associated with diseases. It is nature of oldness. On the whole, ill people, whether they are old or not, shouldn’t be evaluated by their health status. History is a great witness & supports for this fact, for example, “Steven Hawking”, the great scientist of physics. He could not even move his fingers but contributed to the significant developments in the world.

On the other hand, a person is not just body and physic. Everybody has a soul, memory and feelings. When we intend to forget them and just considering future, thinking with regards to spending and saving money for next generation and future, this origin a great harm to unhealthy people.

To sum up, it can be argued that, we, humans, shouldn’t care just about pleasant and apparently right people and occasions. Ill people are like us. They feel, enjoy and think. They should have behaved  well and considered via spending money or paying attention to them.

Model Answer 3:
Healthy lifestyle and healthy living are two commonly used terms nowadays. With the technological advancement and modern lifestyle, people are diverted from keeping themselves fit and healthy. The issue of promoting health is quite in a vogue. Some people think that more money should be spent on creating awareness among the people, instead of treating the ones who are already ill. The below paragraphs will analyse the problem in detail before coming to an appropriate conclusion.

With the modernization and urbanisation more and more people are exposed to diseases nowadays. People are becoming ill and affected by various debilitating diseases like TB, Diabetes and Cancer. Individual himself cannot be totally blamed for this condition. It is both the government and the rapidly changing lifestyle of the people, responsible for their health problems. It is, therefore, the duty of the authority to look after its people. The government must spend a little amount of money on the health issues created in the country. This can be done in various ways.
Firstly, there should be awareness created among the people about the healthy living. Health care programs, campaigns, seminars etc. should be organised by the authority to inform people about the consequences of an unhealthy lifestyle. Issues concerning proper sanitation, balanced diet, regular exercise should be dealt with. Secondly, health care facilities should be improved; for example, diagnostic facilities like X-ray, MRI should be available to the patient in order to start the treatment as early as possible. Lastly, since each and every person cannot afford the cost of his treatment, those should be taken care of. Moreover, helping ill and poor people in terms of money for the sake of humanity can be the one reason.
To conclude, I neither completely agree nor disagree with the statement that money should solely be spent on promoting health and not on treating people who are ill. In fact, expenditure should be done equally for overcoming both the problems. Treatment should be carried out with the awareness programmes so that spreading of this problem can be prevented further.

Model Answer 4:
Health is a major concern and hot topic all the time to discuss. Major diseases are increasing and quality of life is decreasing nowadays. I believe that prevention is better than cure. I strongly agree that governments should spend money and time to promote healthy lifestyles, in order to prevent the diseases than spending money that who are suffering from terminal illness.

Firstly terminal illness, like cancer, renal disease, delirium all this cannot be cured can only manage the symptoms experienced by clients. Secondly how much money we spend on this diseases also only can increase the lifespan and not able to provide quality of life. However, all this terminal illness can be preventable, if they take care themselves from maintaining healthy habits. Thirdly, to treat and manage these terminal diseases the cost of treatment is very high. However, people use insurance and med save, still not enough that money they need to top-up additionally to take treatment. Many clients they unable to manage them and hospitalised frequently.
Coming to the prevention of diseases, many people were educated in this modern world, so that easy to educate everybody on how to prevent diseases and as well as to promote quality of life. The government should spend the money to advertise on healthy eating habits, management of stress, diseases caused by drinking alcohol and smoking. Many major diseases caused by long-term diseases, for example, diabetes and hypertension. The government should conduct free health camps at least twice a year to screen the people and give the health education how to manage diabetes, hypertension. So that people can manage their health at home and also can prevent major diseases caused by them.
To sum up, since, many major diseases caused by poor healthy habits, stress and long-term diseases. So that I strongly agree that government spend the money on advertising on how to prevent illness than cure the terminal illness.

Some people say that money can make life easier and more comfortable. But others say that having a great amount of wealth can bring some problems.

Hello everyone,
My name is Sam. I am from Vietnam and targeting a band score of 7.0 in IETLS writing.
Please help me correct the mistakes as well as provide the estimated band score according to your experience.
Many thanks for your warmly concern, dear!

Some people say that money can make life easier and more comfortable. But others say that having a great amount of wealth can bring some problems.
What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of having a lot of money?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant example from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.

It is indisputable fact that possession of a amount of money allows people to live more conveniently; however, there are several potential dangers. The pros and cons of this issue have been debated much upon and this essay aims to highlight both.
The most obvious benefit gained from wealth is its significant encouragement towards the economic growth, which is attributed by the noticeable escalation in the individual’s productivity at work caused by their ability to afford academic programs at a wider range of prestigious academic institutes. Also, we should not forget to point out how this practice resonating with the development of technology could bring about the positive consequences on facilitating women with easier housewives’ life because the fact that due to the availability of state of the art electronic devices, hardly any housework are now totally accomplished manually. For example, according to a study conducted by the Time recently, a remarkable 30% of woman from classy families have not done housework themselves for the past 5 years.
However, we should not turn a blind eye to the expected undesirable outcomes, one of which is the increasing quantity of conflicts as well as social evils in the society, which are resulted in by the fact while siblings’ domestic conflicts may be intensified when each child trying to get a larger share of the massive inheritance upon the death of their parents, some youngsters who are lured by others’ wealth commit various crimes in pursuit of instant welfare. Another threat worth preparing for is the negative influence of this practice on children’s personality development because of parents’ prevalent misconception that greater amount of monetary support can make up for their lack of care of their children, which is blame for not only the child’s isolation to his poorer peers but also his bad behaviors due to customs of spending money without the adults’ supervision at such an early age. My cousin who was ruined by his parents’ money and convicted for snatching someone’s bag on the street for fun would serve as a concrete example.
In conclusion, it is thus imperative for people to be fully aware of both merits and pitfalls associated with money before making decision of pursuing wealth in order to increase their living standards.

Here are some comments to help you develop your essay further. These comments are aimed at band score 6.5 and above.

1.
Body paragraph 1: Make your main points focused. You first main point covered economics, work and education - what was your main point exactly? Your topic sentence must contain one clear main point in order to get band score 6 and above.
This main point was not sufficiently developed to get a good score in task response. Also this essay was not about wealth for the country but wealth for individuals. Here's an example of how your first body paragraph should be written:

The most obvious benefit to having money is that people are able to afford not only basic necessities but also luxuries which can be used to enhance their lives. One clear example is people being able to afford a good level of education for their children which in turn will help the children secure a better job in the future and this benefit the family. Another advantage to money is the effect it has had on the role of women in the family. With the development of household technology, money enables people to buy such technology which allows women more time so they can join the work force and contribute to society as well as the family.

Think of one clear advantage and then explain it in one more sentence. Give another advantage, use the right linker, and explain that. This is the technique for adv/ disadv essays. The examiner is looking for developed and supported ideas, not just a wide range of ideas.

2.
You have good paragraphing but you could use more linkers. Showing the examiner that you can be flexible with linking is important. Don't overuse them but you should use more than you have.

3.
All examples should be written in third person singular or plural for an academic essay. So don't write about your cousin, write about people in general. "For example, some children can be ruined by their parents money and this can result in ..."

You have good grammar and vocabulary on the whole. However, keep control of your sentences. One of your sentences was 71 words - this is too long and shows a lack of punctuation and control. Here's the example:

Another threat worth preparing for is the negative influence of this practice on children’s personality development because of parents’ prevalent misconception that greater amount of monetary support can make up for their lack of care of their children, which is blame for not only the child’s isolation to his poorer peers but also his bad behaviors due to customs of spending money without the adults’ supervision at such an early age.

You need to break it down:

Another drawback worth highlighting is the negative impact that spending too much money has on the development of a child's personality. In other words, many parents believe that by indulging children, it can make up for the lack of parental guidance but in reality this is often the actual cause of further problematic behaviour which can lead to actions bordering on criminal acts.

4.
You also need to use vocabulary relating to advantage / disadvantage. Here's a list:

advantage: benefit, gain, positive point, advantageous, beneficial, positive aspect
disadvantage: drawback, problem, issue, problematic, negative consequence / aspect.

The society would benefit from a ban on all forms of advertising because it serves no useful purpose, and can even be damaging.

The society would benefit from a ban on all forms of advertising because it serves no useful purpose, and can even be damaging.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Sample Answer 1:
It is a fact that advertisements are now widespread on mass media. Some people believe that these do not serve any beneficial purposes and even spoil the society. There should be an advertising restriction to hinder their negative impacts on customers. So everything has its own pros and cons and that is why someone rightly said that all that glitters is not gold.

It is understandable that people want to remove advertisements from our lives because advertisements can be disturbing, therefore the pumping out of advertisement on the internet is distractive when doing research online and insertion of ads during TV dramas and movies is obnoxious. Moreover, advertisements are sometimes misleading and cause impulsive purchase thus the exaggeration and eye-binding techniques employed in the advertisement overshadow the true function of products and the consumers, especially the young people, would fall victims to this intensive commercial completion.
On the other side, it is irrefutable that the proponents of advertisement argue that it is unfair to ban advertisement because it is the only efficient and viable way to show their products. If the advertisement is eradicated then the link between products and consumers would be cut off. Without advertisement, companies would find it hard to reach out to their customers. Consequently, giant companies would manipulate the market and small companies would never be known by the public. Furthermore, advertisement provides more options to consumers.
To draw the conclusion, I pen down by stating that advertisement is disturbing now and then, there is realistic need of it. The government should make them more trustworthy. Nowadays, the advertisement is an inescapable and necessary existence.
( Written by - Sukhdev Gautam

Sample Answer 2:
There is no denying the fact that advertisement plays a vital role in human life. The advertisement is the backbone of commerce and industry. It is a source of information as well as the source of entertainment. It is important for us. These days are the days of marketing. We cannot think of life without advertisement. Without advertisements, life is like a fish without water. No businessman or industrialist can ever hope of tapping the market without proper advertisement. Advertisements are all around us - on television, radio and newspaper.

Apropos to above parable about the conversation, many people hold the opinion that advertisement is an important part of our life because the advertisement is the best way to educate the people. For instance, they inform the people about new products, their uses, merits and other similar products available in the market. Moreover, many advertisements are issued by the government agencies, NGOs, and social welfare organisation which have great value in education the people. Furthermore, advertisements raise the standard of living of the people.
On the flip side, those who disagree with this point of view mention that those advertisements have their disadvantages because they distort and exaggerate reality. In addition to it, they aim at profits. Furthermore, another objection is that many advertisements are bad for that they provide the wrong information to the people. Besides this, the producers have become profit hungry. They throw the moral values to the winds.
To conclude, I pen down by stating that advertisements put deep influence on the people’s mind. Some advertisements advise people the direction of the right path. Good advertisements help the people to choose the right products and make informed decisions.

Children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school.

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

You should write at least 250 words.

Model Answer 1:

Nowadays, we live in a globalised advance era in which learning a new language has become one of the great concerns of every person. Some people believe that since one language is not adequate for communication, children should start to learn a foreign language in their primary schools. I strongly agree with this statement due to the following reasons.

First of all, if someone wants to see outcome soon, one must start sooner. To be more precise, brain ability in learning new language reduces with growing up. Additionally, scientists claim that unlike the misconception of parents, children do not confuse the words of their mother tongue with a studied language, but they learn more efficiently.

Secondly, learning a new language can broaden children’s horizon because of enhancing their social skills. When they learn a foreign language, they become more interested in that country and can make a connection with more easily. Moreover, they can cope with their future issues related to their field of study by having access to the variety of sources presented in their second language.

When children start their early education, their minds remain fresh and they can catch more information. It is the ideal time to learn a new language so they can master the language in short time. Besides, they do not learn a language all of a random. Rather this is decided by the parents, teacher and that has a cultural perspective that the children should learn at the earlier stage rather than the later stages of life.
Finally, adults always are afraid of making mistakes when they learn a new language and this fear is one of the biggest barriers in this process. Moreover, they are always distracted with their problems related to their work, family and etc. Therefore, they need more efforts in comparison to the children.
(Approximately 303 words)
[ by - Naeini]
Model Answer 2:

Language is the best means of communication. In the modern globalisation era, it is not enough to be able to speak one language to communicate with the outside world. I strongly support the idea that children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school. They faster become familiar with a strange language, improve their hearing ability to understand new words as time goes by and learn new words. In the following paragraphs, I will list some reasons to support my position.

First of all, if one wants to see outcome soon, one must start sooner. So, the early children begin to learn a new language the better will be the result. Scientists say that a child does not confuse two different languages but learns them more effectively. If children learn a foreign language at an early age, then he/she can cope with the different cultures and enjoy a better position to read more books written in foreign language.

Second, adults are often afraid to make mistakes when they are speaking in a new language. This fear is one of the biggest barriers for a person in his efforts to speak freely. Otherwise, children do not afraid of making grammatical mistakes because basically they just repeat words and sentences in the way they hear them. Also, children have a better chance to get rid of an accent. They faster get used to the right pronunciation and better feel the melody of a language.

To sum up, I think that it is essential for children to begin learning a foreign language in their early ages. It brings many benefits such as great pronunciation. Also, it helps a child develop and gain more knowledge which is good for a long run.

(Approximately 295 words)
(This model answer has been prepared by the site developer. However, please note that this is just one example out of many possible answers.)
Model Answer 3:

Today, learning foreign languages is a great beneficial skill because we live in a communicated era and knowing different languages makes communication easier, therefore I personally agree that foreign language should be taught to children as early as possible.

Firstly, human brain ability will decrease when they grow up. Several recent research indicates that children can memorise and understand new languages automatically after they are born until 4 years, and afterwards, this ability will decrease. So adults need more efforts to learn such things. As a result, it is better that somebody trains them as soon as they start school.
Furthermore, in this age children do not have any involvement in important tasks or problems, because they do not have any responsibility to worry about and can concentrate on their study, they can learn new things quickly and more efficiently. On the contrary, adults concern about jobs, earning, future, personal and social life and many other things.  Also, they can learn another language more easily in their childhood than in adolescence period.
Finally, some people disagree with this matter and claim that the other subjects are more important than learning foreign languages and it is better that teachers allocated the time of this subject to another field such as mathematics and science, however, researchers believe that learning a foreign language help to improve other skills, since it is very challenging and enhance the brain’s abilities.
In conclusion, I personally think, children should learn another language as soon as possible because their brains are more ready to understand new information and also they have less distraction when they study.

Model Answer 4:

It is believed that the best time to learn a foreign language is at the early age. Therefore, some people think children should be taught new language as they start school. I personally disagree with the statement, since the children might get stressed, and there are other lessons which are more important than a foreign language. The following paragraphs will explain some of the reasons in detail.

Firstly, it is undeniable that children start their formal education at an early age these days. Some parents have registered their children at the age of three or four, but others have enrolled their children at the age of two. During these periods, children are in the process of learning their mother tongue language. They are still learning the alphabetical words, pronunciation, grammar and vocabularies of their native languages. If the children are then taught a new language, then there is a risk that the children might get mixed up or confused.
Secondly, the early-aged children should focus on learning other important things, besides a new language. They should learn subjects like arts and sport. Art is an essential subject for the children as it teaches them about colours and creativities, while sports are also vital for the development of the children’s physical appearance. Besides that, it is also important to teach the children about numbers as well, as it is beneficial for their further studies.
In conclusion, I personally disagree that the children should learn a foreign language at the early age. It is better for the children to focus on their native language first, and there are other subjects which are more important for them to learn.

IELTS Writing Task 2: All children should study a foreign language in school, starting in the earliest grades.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with the statement?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Sample Essay: Communication is a very fundamental skill, which everyone should have. Being able to use a particular languages, along with the mother tongue, is also important to support the quality that is made through the interactions. In addition, learning a second language is not easy and takes time, which is why it is suggested that everyone should start learning a foreign language from the very beginning of their academic years.

Being able to speak more than one language would definitely open a lot of doors of opportunities overseas, not to mention the freedom to choose future career path in a developed country. Thus for the children, learning another language would be some sort of investment for them. When they grow up, they would have an advance skill of a particular language they have learnt when they were very young. By then, they would be able to expand their networks, enhance their confidence as well as have the chances to continue higher education abroad. Finally they would be able to make friends from other countries and read books written in another language.

Some people think that learning a second language in the early stages of school might be a burden for many students. However, it is proven that children who start learning a language at an early stage can master it quickly and use it more efficiently. The minds of new school goers are fresh and the cognitive development at this stage makes it easier for them to learn new things easily. This is why I personally believe that early school years are the best time for students to learn a new foreign language.

In conclusion, learning a foreign language at the early stage of school offers many benefits and this is a proven way of mastering a second language than learning it in later stages. Since skill in a second language offers so many benefits and children in their early stages can learn it better, there should be no debate about letting children learn it from the very beginning of their school.

Essay writting : "All children should learn at least one foreign language at schooll" ? Do you agree or disagree with the statement ?

Nowadays, teaching at least one foreign language at school for all children is widely applied by the large number of national educations. Some people argue that it is unnecessary for children to learn it too early, others state that it can lead them to a successful path. It is my opinion that children should learn foreign language at school; therfore, in this essay, I will give two reasons for my personal point of view of this.

In the first place, globalization ( toàn cầu hóa ) have become a genaral trend ( xu hướng ) in many countries all over the world. Few tongues like Engligh are considered as global languages. Many well-paid jobs ( công việc được trả lương cao ) after graduation now are required an advance level English degree. People will have more chance to get a successful life if they set out managing at least one foreign language early. In addition, with the miracle development of telecommunication like computer or television, people can widen their knowledge about everything happing all over the world easily by watching foreign programs or accessing international websites.

Equally importantly ( Cũng quan trọng như vậy ) , it is widely thought that mastering ( thành thạo ) at least one foreign language gives children many benefits. There are many incidents that brain ability in learning new language reduces with growing up. This means it easier for children to manage a language not mother tongues than adults. Moreover, by learning a new language they can also get various useful information about other countries or read some interesting overseas’s books. Otherwise, they may get some pen pal friends which can have a good influence on them.

To sum up, not easy as mastering a new language at school is for children, they can probably lead them to a better life. Therefore, all the parents should think globally now and make a wise decision regarding helping their children to learn a foreign language since their school.
